Prototyping
Project 1:Leather Wallet
For this project we were assigned to create a leather wallet with at least 2 functional pockets and a engraved logo within the wallet. The technology we used for this project was Adobe illustrator and Laser Cutters in the prototyping lab at Colorado State. We were required to compile over 5 prototypes to ensure quality design and accurate placement of stitch holes. The process took about a month to accomplish the full wallet. To assemble it we used hand sewing techniques and manually finished all the fabric within the wallet.
This page exhibits by prototyping work that I have done during the spring semester. Many of the technology used in these projects is very advanced and precise. The focus of my designs are form and function. I want to use these design principals to focus my efforts to making a stylish yet functional product throughout my design process.
Project 2:Laptop Pouch
For this project we were assigned to design a small pouch or bag with at least 2 functional pockets and a Ultraviolet Print on the fabric. I produced this laptop pouch with 100% cotton canvas. The print on the bag is inspired by my brand vice versa. The angled pocket on the back has an "A" closure with velcro. The technologies used for this pouch were laser cutters, Ultraviolet Printer and Sewing machine.
Project 3:Tote/Backpack
For our final project we were assigned to create a large bag using all of the skills we have gained throughout the semester. The bag that I chose to make was a convertible tote backpack. The bag design is focused on being able to utilize it in multiple ways to suit whatever you need it to. The technologies I used for this bag were the laser cutter and sewing machine to ensure accurate pattern pieces and strong structure. The lining material is a cotton/poly waterproof fabric that does not allow water to penetrate the bag. The outside fabric is 100% quilting cotton with a comic print on it. It includes one large pocket and one zipper closure pocket.
